The idea for this project was to take a theme, and create a divine version of it. What I was going for was a painterly style photo, and I wanted to create something that wasn’t your typical view of purity, of all white, so I went with red, and had a lot of fabric for the draping look that is common in a lot of paintings. The candles of the photo are a representation of purity, and the mirror being vanity, as she looks away from it, is as though she is rejecting vanity. The circle around her head is a halo, a symbol of divinity, also common is certain painting styles.
The shoot itself was a total of 8hrs, including set up and tear down, and required a lot of fabric and pillows, which is under what she is sitting on. Of the photos I have in mind for the series, this one required a lot for pieces for it, and took some time to gather everything.
